Wildfire Preparedness Weekend at World Forestry Center

World Forestry Center’s Discovery Museum

Free admission on Saturday and Sunday includes an exhibit of Ann Ruttan's paintings, tabling and exhibits on fire, and one-hour programs at 11:30 and 1:30, followed by Burn Table demos at 12:30 and 2:30.

Ann Ruttan and our writer-in-residence Apricot Irving will begin with stories, followed by a scientific explanation of why the fire problem is changing before our eyes by experts from the OSU Extension Fire Program, as well as what can be done for community prevention and engagement by Jen Warren from the State Fire Marshal's Office and Kim Kosmaa from Portland Fire & Rescue.

There will also be an opportunity to tell individual stories of encounters with fire and have them included in an ongoing oral history record.
